Seam the Change: Fashion Hackathon
11-14 NOVEMBER 2025
IMPACT HUB ATHENS
ATHENS, GR
From 11 to 14 November 2025, Athens became a living laboratory for circular fashion innovation. The Seam the Change Hackathon, organised within the framework of the SUST3D Fashion Erasmus+ Project, brought together designers, makers, VET learners, SMEs, policy actors, and digital innovators from France, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Türkiye for four intensive days of collaboration and experimentation.
The objective was clear: move beyond theory and co-create practical, scalable solutions for the textile and fashion sector using 3D tools, circular economy principles, and digital methodologies.
Innovation Journey
The hackathon was carefully designed to guide participants from systems thinking to prototyping:
Day 1 – Mapping the System
Participants explored the policy landscape, sustainability challenges, and structural gaps within the textile and fashion ecosystem. Through system mapping and facilitated discussions, teams identified leverage points for circular intervention.
Day 2 – From Ideas to Teams
The focus shifted to ideation. Participants pitched early concepts, formed interdisciplinary teams, and began prototyping under the guidance of mentors. The mentor clinics ensured ideas were technically feasible and aligned with sustainability principles.
Day 3 – Digital Integration & MOOC Presentation
A key milestone was the presentation of the Sust3DFashion MOOC. Experts provided structured feedback to strengthen its educational design and practical relevance. Parallel hacking and validation sessions allowed teams to test and refine their concepts using 3D design and digital tools.
Day 4 – Mentoring & Future Pathways
The final day centred on mentoring workshops and structured follow-up planning. Teams presented their outcomes, and winning concepts were recognised for combining innovation, sustainability, and practical applicability.
Impact Beyond the Event
The hackathon achieved multiple outcomes:
-Strengthened skills in circular and digital fashion
-Reinforced collaboration between local and EU partners
-Generated concrete prototypes and concept frameworks
-Validated the relevance of digital learning tools for VET and industry professionals
Most importantly, Fashion Hackathon demonstrated how cross-sector collaboration can accelerate the transition toward more sustainable textile systems. The Athens hackathon stands as a tangible example of how innovation, policy awareness, and digital tools can converge to drive systemic change.
